South African-born singer and songwriter of Greek ancestry, particularly known for his 1970s hits "He's Gonna Step on You Again" and "Tokoloshe Man". "He's Gonna Step on You Again" became known to future generations being the basis of the Happy Mondays 1990s top 5 single "Step On".
Following his career as an artist Kongos worked as record producer, sound engineer, TV & Library composer and songwriter. He is recognised for his work on the (at the time revolutionary) Fairlight CMI synthesizer on Def Leppard's 1983 album Pyromania.
